Quick Tax Tips

While the prospect of filing our taxes is about as appealing as a root canal, unfortunately it has to be done! Here are a few handy tips that will help make the process as painless as possible:

• Gather all your important documents and put them into a plastic folder. These include your IRP5, IT3(b), medical aid contribution certificates and receipts, and pension or RA fund certificates
• Glance over all your documents to verify that the information contained on them is correct
• Check that your logbook is accurately completed, if you receive a travel allowance
• If you’re planning on submitting your returns at a SARS branch, do plan on getting there early, and remember to take along your ID book
• To avoid the queues, why not use SARS eFiling? Registering is quick and easy – do it over here
